Makers Mark’s origin began when T. William “Bill” Samuels Sr., purchased the Burk’s Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, for $35,000 on October 1, 1953. Production began in 1954, and the first run was bottled in 1958 under the brand’s dipped red wax seal.This pen is made from a Makers Mark red drip wax label wrapped around the tube.Then it was inserted in a wood stave before being poured with clear acrylic.A Certificate of Authenticity and a charred stave accompanies this pen.This pen uses a Parker style ink cartridge, and replacements are available where office supplies are sold.
