Buckeye Burl Twist Pencil

The Legacy Classic Twist pencil has a heavier feel compared to the Slimline pencil.  With gold finishes and black accents, this 7mm leaded pencil remains a single piece, meaning it does not have a removable cap and eraser.  Despite being a hardwood, Buckeye Burl is much softer than most softwoods.  It is difficult and expensive to mill because of the unnatural foreign objects – including rocks, sand, dirt, bullets, even rattlesnakes, often fill the voids in the burl eyes.  To stabilize the wood for turning, an acrylic polymer is dissolved into a solvent and then forced into the wood through a mix of vacuum and pressure cycles.  The wood is then heated to drive off the solvent and cure the resin. This Buckeye Burl Pencil has a beautiful color mixture from blue-black to golden white with many colors in between.
