Breitling Watch Face and Parts Rollerball Ink Pen

Getting into the watch manufacturing business in the mid-1880s was no easy feat. Switzerland was experiencing the worst part of a long recession. Yet, despite the economic difficulty, social unrest and uncertainty about the future, 24-year-old Léon Breitling stayed true to his vision of creating instruments that could measure, divide and master time.  This is how the Breitling brand was born. This pen blank is made with beautiful blue dyed Paua Abalone shell as the background.  Paua Abalone shell is harvested and cleaned, and the most beautiful part of the shell is used in jewelry and other applications that call for a stunning iridescent material. The Paua is cut into thin strips, then ever so delicately each strip is meticulously hand-applied onto the pen tube. It is then cast in clear polyester resin to enhance and protect its beauty.

The gears are intricately laid over the shell after the high end watch face has been positioned. Such a stunning one of a kind beauty.
