USS Hornet and Apollo 11 Historical Ink Pen with COA

This pen contains a piece of Kapton foil from a larger section removed from the lunar lander prior to launch, due to a defect in the squib valve.  To remove and replace the valve, some of the Kapton thermal blanket had to be removed and replaced. Since this piece was removed prior to launch, it did not fly in space or to the moon.  This pen also contains images and materials from an original US Postage Stamp.

The USS Hornet (CV-12) aircraft carrier was built during WWII and served during both the Korean War & Vietnam War.  Hornet was the recovery ship for the Apollo program missions to the moon. This pen contains a wood relic from the deck of the USS Hornet.  Pen arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity.
